Design Circle, a student affiliate of any nationally or locally recognized professional organization, is a group of students with an interest in visual communication design, interior space design, product design, and/or related fields meeting for the planning and execution of activities that satisfy the following mission statement.

To act as the student chapters for and/or promoters of the following professional organizations:

• American Institute for Graphic Arts
  [AIGA]
• American Society for Interior Designers
  [ASID]
• Columbus Society for Communication Arts
  [CSCA]
• Industrial Design Society of America
  [IDSA, Central Ohio Chapter]
• International Interior Design Association
  [IIDA]
• Society for Environmental Graphic Design
  [SEGD]

To increase communication and promote democracy between the various design majors, the student body, the faculty, the design department, and officials of the university.

To help develop and maintain contacts with local and national design firms, or companies where designers are employed.

To provide a channel for student input into the design educational program and the design community.

To assist in the organization and execution of relevant student-involved events that the faculty and/or the design department may need assistance with.

To act as the student representatives for the design department in the professional design community.

Membership is open to any undergraduate or graduate student who has an interest in a professional career in design and/or is a student at Ohio State University who is interested in meeting the objectives listed above. Design Circle will not limit its membership in any way because of race, sex, color, national origin, religion, age, political views, veteran status, sexual orientation, or handicap.

The participation terms of Design Circle members within the professional organizations listed above is to be determined by the bylaws of each respective professional organization.
